The profession of designing buildings, open areas, communities, and other artificial constructions and environments, usually with some regard to aesthetic effect.

 

Architecture often includes design or selection of furnishings and decorations, supervision of construction work, and the examination, restoration, or remodeling of existing buildings.

Mendoza completed many architectural projects during his career including: commercial buildings, private residences (including for ex-presidents), the Kessel family mansion, the ‘Teatro Metropolitan’ in Mexico City and the ‘Plaza Theatre’ chain of cinemas.

 

Some of his noteworthy works at the Teatro Metropolitan include the 8' x 12' oil paintings and 15' statues that adorn the theater as well as the architectural details and overall decoration. The theatre opened in 1947 and continues to host major events and artists.

 

His jewel in the crown is ‘La Ofrenda’ which is his lasting legacy and is one of the most visited Roman Catholic monuments in the world.
